Our Private Kauai Hiking Tour moves at your pace and cater to your interests. Our goal is to provide what you want and allow you to experience Kauai your way. Because our tours are private we may have limited availability. Book now to ensure a private guide for the day(s) you are interested in exploring the island!
Our local guides take you to some of their favorite spots, the places they enjoy exploring in their free time. We hope to inspire understanding, respect and reverence for these sacred, often fragile, environments. Far beyond snapping a few pretty pictures, we aim to create life changing experiences that stay with you long after you return home!
Pick up from your accommodations are available. Tour durations begin when you meet your guide until you part ways. Driving time to the trailhead, including traffic, will be incorporated into the duration of tour you select. If you have your own vehicle, we meet at a centralized location between where you are staying and where the tour will be to maximize time on the trail.
On this 3 – 6 hour day of hiking, we will maximize our time together. Options include:
Checking out one of our favorite hiking and/or waterfall spots on the East Side of the island such as Nounou Mountain (a.k.a. Sleeping Giant), Kuilau Ridge with views of Mount Waiʻaleʻale, and more – the east side of the island has amazing waterfalls and lots of green luscious jungle scenery to adventure into. A coastal stroll along the South Shore or North Shore of Kauaʻi to check out crashing waves and/or native wildlife.
Depending on your group’s desires and skills, we take you to as many amazing locations and delve as deep into the Kauaʻi outdoor experience as time allows. Half-day hikes are perfect for a family visiting Kauaʻi with young children who are looking to get out and have an authentic adventure in nature. You will have an opportunity to discuss your specific interests and ability level directly with your guide before the tour.
This is a custom tour – we can hike as little or as much as you would like. Options include a driving tour to check out some of the North Shores’ most famous waterfalls, beaches, and lookouts (with a stop at a favorite local spot for lunch and/or time for a couple short hikes).
Or, let's head towards “Hanapēpē Town” on the western side of the island, a launching off point to explore Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe State Park(s). Options for hikes and/or sites to see in these two parks is limitless – they include areas of diverse vegetation, fauna, and terrain. From ridge top hikes high above the Nāpali Coast to equally stunning views along the rim of Waimea Canyon.
Waimea/Kōkeʻe tours include a scenic drive of at least one hour each way (a little longer taking into account stopping at the choicest overlooks along the way). Our guests love multiple sightseeing overlooks and stopping at the rustic Koke’e Lodge for a delicious lunch. How much hiking we do depends on your interest and ability level. Much can be seen in this area because these diverse viewpoints are relatively close together.
Looking to test your strength and endurance? Or simply allow for the maximum amount of time to explore Kauaʻi at your own pace? This is the tour for you!
We make the most of our time together by meeting on the North, East, South, or West Side of the island to do a driving tour with one or more shorter hikes along the way. Options include a driving tour to check out some of the East Side and/or North Shores’ most famous waterfalls, beaches, and lookouts. Stop at an “ono” (tasty) local establishment for lunch or snacks. You will have an opportunity to discuss your specific interests directly with your guide before the tour.
Or head to Waimea Canyon and Koke'e for a full day tour designed to give you an in-depth look at Waimea Canyon and Koke'e, featuring views of the Nāpali Coast from a unique vantage point - a narrow ridge thousands of feet above the ocean!
Take the time to observe rare forest birds and plants seen no where else on earth (many species endemic only to Kauaʻi). The tour is tailored to your specific individual needs. Your guide will help select trail(s) and locations perfect you – fully adjustable during the tour according to your groups’ energy level, the weather, and local trail conditions. Much can be seen in this area, it is well worth having the extra time to see as much as possible!
