What to Expect

Depart Waiʻanae Boat Harbor aboard a fast 34-foot rigid inflatable boat and head along Oʻahu’s rugged West Coast in search of migrating humpback whales. Each winter, these enormous animals return to Hawaiian waters to mate, give birth, and raise their calves.

Once whales are located, the pace slows. Watch for towering spouts, tail flukes, pectoral slaps, and the unforgettable possibility of a full breach as your crew observes from a respectful distance. When conditions allow, the engines go quiet, leaving you with the sound of the ocean and sometimes the powerful breaths of humpbacks surfacing nearby.

Your crew may also listen for the haunting songs of male humpbacks traveling through the water, adding another dimension to the encounter with these 40-plus-foot visitors.

After whale watching, head to one of West Oʻahu’s clear coastal reefs for approximately 45 minutes of snorkeling. Swim among tropical fish, coral formations, and possibly Hawaiian green sea turtles before climbing aboard for the ride back along the Waiʻanae Coast.
