Kona Coast Sightseeing Tour

Explore the stunning South Kona coastline while uncovering the island’s deep-rooted history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. This guided sightseeing tour offers an intimate look at sacred Hawaiian sites, lush botanical gardens, vibrant local markets, and a world-renowned Kona coffee farm. With a small group setting, luxury transportation, and knowledgeable guides, this half-day experience promises comfort, insight, and unforgettable views of Hawaii’s Big Island.

What to Expect

The coastline tour begins with a convenient pickup from select Waikoloa and Kohala hotels or a central meeting point in Kona. Settle into a luxury Mercedes Sprinter with plush leather seating and oversized windows, designed for optimal sightseeing comfort. Your expert guide, well-versed in the island’s history and culture, will provide fascinating insights as you make your way along the scenic Kona coastline.

Your first stop is Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, known as the "Place of Refuge." This sacred site once served as a sanctuary for those who broke ancient Hawaiian laws, offering them protection and a chance for redemption. Stroll through the meticulously preserved royal grounds, admire the traditional wooden carvings, and feel the spiritual energy of this tranquil, oceanfront setting.

Next, visit the Painted Church (St. Benedict's Catholic Church), a historic landmark renowned for its hand-painted biblical murals. The vibrant artwork, created by a Belgian priest in the late 19th century, beautifully blends European religious themes with Hawaiian cultural elements. Take in the breathtaking coastal views surrounding this peaceful hillside sanctuary.

Continuing the journey, stop at Paleaku Gardens, a hidden gem featuring lush botanical landscapes and artistic installations that celebrate different world religions. Wander among exotic flora, enjoy panoramic views of Kealakekua Bay, and admire intricate sculptures and mandalas that promote peace and unity.

No trip to South Kona is complete without a visit to a Premium Kona Coffee Farm. Here, you'll gain firsthand knowledge of the coffee cultivation process, from bean to brew. Enjoy a guided tasting session, sampling some of the finest Kona coffee while learning about the region’s rich agricultural heritage.

The final stop is the lively Kona Farmer’s Market, where you can browse through an array of fresh tropical fruits, handmade crafts, and authentic Hawaiian delicacies. Engage with friendly local vendors, pick up unique souvenirs, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this community hub.

After a day filled with history, culture, and scenic beauty, relax on the comfortable drive back to your pickup location, leaving with a deeper appreciation for the spirit of South Kona.
